After 15 years of working in hospitality, gaining valuable experience in all facets of operational departments as well as management, I decided that the 'normal' hours of working were not conducive to work/life balance when having a family. I chose to study bookkeeping as I felt my time working as a Night Auditor taught me that numbers are my 'thing'.
I then worked for five years in a small public practice and have since been doing end-to-end bookkeeping for various clients on-site and off-site. I have learned a lot from the accountants I have worked with and feel that since starting with dmca in January 2016, I will continue to learn and grow from this team. I also feel this makes me a better bookkeeper because I have that warm personality from my years in hospitality and I have accounting knowledge over and above what is taught in Bookkeeping at TAFE.
