How to run a successful teleconference

Since Covid-19 the teleconference has gone from an occasional occurrence to a necessity. Now that we have all had exposure to the new technologies on offer what is the best way to utilise what’s on offer.

Top tips for teleconferences

  1. Agree on a time that suits all participants. Due to potential different time zones this can sometimes be tricky to locate the sweet spot that works for everyone.
  2. Create and send out a clear agenda outlining topics and the time allocated to each. This will enable someone to keep everyone accountable and to keep on track.
  3. Get everyone to introduce themselves when they enter the meeting, this will not only test their microphone and speakers but also get the meeting up and running.
  4. If someone has yet to contribute for a while, invite them to share their opinion on a particular topic, silence doesn’t always equal agreement.
  5. At the end of the meeting, thank everyone for their time and contribution which will leave the meeting on a positive note.

At dmca advisory we commonly use Zoom and Microsoft Teams to conduct teleconferences so if you’re having a little trouble please contact your adviser for some assistance.
